American males are caught in a crisis of identity.
After years of mixed signals and indifference, many have retreated. Without strong role models there is confusion about expectations, about basic issues of character, and about what it means to just simply be a boy.
Growing up has never been easy. But without engaged guidance we risk not just losing a generation, but fundamentally restructuring society in a way whose consequences will be felt by generations yet to come.
The effects of this national crisis have been noted by sociologists, and reported as cover stories in a host of publications including Time and Newsweek.
Fortunately, we know what is causing the problem and how to correct it. Unfortunately, no one has been able to take action on any kind of systematic, organized level until Adventure Boys.
Our premise is simple: Childhood determines adulthood.
Founded by two fathers, Adventure Boys sets out to do three things:
- Present authentic, time-tested role models for boys aged 8-14.
- Provide activities that bring fathers and sons together.
- Encourage boys to discover their full potential through work, play, learning, and a host of experiences that will serve as catalysts for strong and positive character development.
Adventure Boys accomplishes this by providing self-paced activities and resources. These range from serious to silly, and are designed to inspire and reinforce male character development, at the heart of which is the father and son relationship.
We all want the best for our sons, and to see them grow into men that we can be proud of. We want shared memories and experiences that go beyond just watching TV together. And most importantly, we want our sons to know us, and for us to know them.
